Estherville – Services for Mark [Anthony] Petersen, 17, Estherville, were held Monday morning at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Petersen was fatally injured Friday [December 14, 1979] evening in a car-train crash east of Estherville. Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Petersen, he was born Nov. 16, 1962, in Fairmont, Minn. He received his education in Swea City schools and moved to Estherville with his parents in 1975, where he attended Estherville High School. He was employed for a farm drainage company in Jackson and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Mr. Petersen is survived by his parents, Hans and Ardyce Petersen, Estherville; three brothers, Daniel Petersen, Estherville, Dale Petersen, Jackson, Minn., and Paul Petersen, Estherville; and three sisters, Treva Petersen, Ames, Rosalie Petersen, Fairmont, Minn., and Mrs. Donald (Nina) Wegner, Armstrong.
