W.R. Howard Died Tues.
Passes Away at the Hospital After a Week’s Illness
W.R. Howard, 84, long time resident of this city, passed away on Wednesday at 1 P.M. at [line missing] been for a week. Mr. Howard has lived in Estherville for twenty two years, and was at the present time living with his grandson, Walter Howard of this city. He was well known and liked by his neighbors and friends.

Funeral service were held this afternoon at 2:00 in the Mahlum and Anderson funeral parlors with Rev. G.E. Fossell, minister of the Baptist Church officiating.

William R. Howard was born October 10, 1857 near Cedar Bluff, Iowa. In 1874 he was married at Carlson, Iowa.

He is survived by five daughters, Miss Nellie Howard of Estherville; Mrs. U.A. Blalock of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Robert Hobbs of Spearfish, So. Dak.; Mrs. A.W. Lynn of Belmont, Wisconsin; and Mrs. J.W. Heiter of Swea City. Also sons, Elmer Howard of Estherville; O.M. Howard of Plymouth Falls, Oregon; Ira Howard of Merle; Ralph Howard of Burlington and Albert Howard of Tacoma, Washington; one sister, Lizzie Howard of Swea City and one brother, Calvin Howard of Bakers, Oregon.
