Estherville – Services for Ethel Eleanor Landmesser, 81, of St. Louis, Mo. formerly of Estherville, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1990 at St. Joseph Carmellite Nursing Home in St. Charles, Mo.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Sunday. Legion of Mary will be at 4 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 16, 1908 at Estherville, the daughter of William and Martha (Taylor) West. She graduated from Estherville High School and Mankato Business College. After college she worked for Dr. C.E. Birney as an office secretary. Following marriage the couple farmed in Dickinson County until 1936 then moved to a farm in Emmet County. They retired in 1962 and moved into Estherville. Following her husband’s death in 1979 she moved to St. Louis to be near her daughters.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church; Altar and Rosary Society; Legion of Mary and the Ryan Lake Club.

Survivors include one son, David, Fontana, Calif.; three daughters: Mrs. William (Janet) Powers and Mrs. Richard (Mary Lou) Jones both of St. Louis and Mrs. William (Ruth Ann) Hunt, Muscatine; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother and three grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 29, 1990)
