Shawn Steven Hovick, the son of Arvid and Donna (Johnson) Hovick, was born October 5, 1983, in Estherville, Iowa. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 23 years old.

He received his education in the Estherville schools.

After completing his education, Shawn worked for Homier selling tools. Currently, Shawn was employed by Tweeters in Okoboji. In his leisure time he enjoyed camping, swimming and spending time with family and friends.

Shawn was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville.

Grateful for having shared Shawn's life are his mom, Donna Hovick of Estherville; his dad, Arvid Hovick of Ringsted, Iowa; his sisters, Robin Rozenboom and her son, Tyler of Waterloo, Iowa; Holly Hovick of Waterloo; Kris Morgensen her husband, Chris and their daughter, Quinn of Winona, Minnesota; his grandparents, Marvin (Bud) and Gerry Johnson of Estherville; Lilah Hovick of Ringsted; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Shawn in death were his brother, Jason and grandfather, Henry Hovick.
