Roland Francis "Rollie" Jasper 1934-2005

Roland Francis Jasper the son of Bernard Conrad and Esther Margaret (Weyker) Jasper was born February 21, 1934 in Iona, Minnesota. He passed away Monday, October 31, 2005 at his home in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 71.

Rollie graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Following high school, he went to work for John Morrell in Sioux Falls. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955.

On September 8, 1956, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Naughton at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Sioux Falls. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Sioux Falls until 1965 when Rollie was transferred to John Morrell in Estherville. After his employment at John Morrell, the couple owned and operated Jasper's Lounge in Fenton until 1982. Rollie then sold insurance for the Knights of Columbus and in 1983, he became an independent insurance agent.

Rollie was a member of the VFW, Knight's of Columbus - 4th degree, Elk's Lodge, County Board of Supervisors for 16 years, and served in multiple functions at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. For hobbies, Rollie enjoyed golf, playing pool, cards and poker, woodworking, being outdoors, traveling, reading and spending time with grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kathleen of Estherville; his children, Patrick Jasper and his wife, Julia of Cary, Illinois; Bernard Jasper and his wife, Mary of Fullerton, California; Gail Jasper of Estherville; Frances Pytleski and her husband, Kurt of Pierce, Nebraska and Alice Dahir and her husband, Jeff of Omaha, Nebraska; ten grandchildren, Jessica and Anthony Jasper; Brian, Erin and John Jasper; Craig and Eleanor Pytleski; Andrew, Kalan and Joseph Dahir; brothers and sisters, Dale Jasper and his wife, Rachel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Donald Jasper and his wife, Betty of Arlington, South Dakota; Jack Jasper and his wife, Kay of Excelsior, Minnesota; Mary French and her husband, Ed of Saugas, California; LeRoy Jasper and his wife, Jackie of Roseville, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Eveline Jasper of Jackson, Minnesota; and many brother and sister-in-laws, and nieces and nephews. He has been preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one brother, James. (MC)
