Mary Clarken
Estherville – Services for Mary E. Clarken, 78, Estherville, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Edward Girres presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1993 at McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Saturday. Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and Parish Vigil service at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 14, 1914 at Pioneer, the daughter of John and Loretta (Hayes) Gilligan and attended and graduated from St. Matthew’s School in Clare. She married Henry Clarken on May 1, 1933 in Gilmore City. The couple farmed in Webster, Story and Kossuth counties in Iowa before moving to Emmet County in 1970. They moved into Estherville in 1981. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband, Henry, Estherville; sons: Don, Rutland; Harold, Waukee; Mike, Estherville; Pat, Armstrong and Steve, Altoona; daughters: Mrs. Don (Joann) Bormann, Livermore and Mrs. Phil (Alice) Schroeder, Fort Dodge; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Gilligan, Jr., Sergeant Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son and two grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February, 1993)
