Vi Smith
Superior – Services for Vi Smith, 90, of Superior will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Father Tom Nash presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery, Estherville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Vigil service at 7 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral chapel.

She was born July 24, 1906 in Flaxton, N.D. the daughter of Alponse and Rose Agnes (Mader) White. She attended school in Inverness, Mont. where she graduated from high school. She then attended Teachers College in Dillon, Mont. She taught in several schools in Montana. On May 23, 1946 she married George Smith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Inverness. The couple farmed until retiring in the Superior area. She has been a resident at Rosewood Manor Care Center since July, 1996.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church since 1946, Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Monica’s Circle, Superior Farm Women’s Study Club; Superior happy Hour Club; Superior 500 card Club and Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a son, Art Smith of rural Estherville; granddaughter, Kasey Smith, rural Estherville; special nephew, Robert White, Superior; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nov. 1, 1981; parents; two brothers; three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1996)
