Estherville – Funeral services for Miss Nell Sauer, 91, of Estherville, will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 8 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. The Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangement. She died Saturday [May 6, 1989] at the Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Estherville.

Miss Sauer was born Jan. 31, 1898, in Taylorville, Ill., the daughter of Herman and Mary Sauer. She and the family moved to a farm just north of Estherville when she was two years old. She lived on the family farm until 1978 when she moved into an apartment in Estherville. She was a resident of the Rosewood Manor Nursing Home since October, 1964. She never married.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society, a member of the Legion of Mary and the last living charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include several cousins and many friends. She was the last member of her family, having been preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 8, 1989)
