Estherville – Services for Mary Agnes Pierson, 80, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Ron Pierson and Father Tom Topf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Monday, May 13, 1991 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and Vigil of the Deceased at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 29, 1911 at Gridley, Iowa, the daughter of Nelson and Mary (Baker) Mino and attended Maple Hill School graduating from Maple Hill High School. She married Lloyd Mitchell in 1930 at Armstrong and Lawrence (Larnie) Pierson Feb. 23, 1946 at Sioux Falls. She worked many years in the Gardston and Majestic Cafes and later was employed as a clerk in the A & P Store. Following her marriage to Pierson, the couple farmed in the Gruver area until 1950 when they retired and moved to Estherville. She has been a resident of Rosewood Manor for several years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include four sons: William Pierson, Estherville; Leo Pierson, Rochester, Minn.; James Pierson, Minneapolis and Leo Mitchell, Humboldt; one daughter Mrs. Vern (Helen) Palmer, Mount Prospect, Ia.; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larnie in 1983; parents; one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 16, 1991)
