Estherville – Services for Lawrence William Pierson, 79, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Monday morning, Oct. 31, 1983 at Rosewood Manor.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Legion of Mary rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and a parish rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. both at the funeral home.

Pierson was born Jan. 31, 1904 in Sac County, the son of Elmer and Rose (Luke) Pierson. He moved with his parents to Graettinger where he attended school. On May 31, 1928 he was married to Elizabeth Mary Rolling at Armstrong; she died in May 1944. On Feb. 23, 1946, he was united in marriage with Mary Mitchell at Sioux Falls, S.D. He farmed east of Estherville until he retired and moved into Estherville. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, Estherville; four sons, William Pierson, rural Estherville, Leo Pierson, Rochester, Minn., James Pierson, Minneapolis and Leo Mitchell, Humboldt; one daughter, Helen Palmer, Mt. Prospect, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 1, 1983)
