Estherville – Services for Joseph Matthew Origer, 96, rural Estherville, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 1989 at his home.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville after 3 p.m. Thursday. Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born June 25, 1893 at Dakota City, the son of Nicholas and Catherine (Kader) Origer and attended the Origer Country School located on the Origer homestead. On March 8, 1917 he married Imogene Burns at Estherville. He has farmed in Emmet County his entire life. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include six sons: Merrill, William, Robert and John of Estherville; Lewis, Pueblo, Colo. and Galen, Pillager, Minn.; two daughters: Mrs. James (Catherine) Kueny, Omaha and Imogene Dessel, Harrison, Ark.; 41 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildern and several great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in June, 1977; one son, one daughter, parents, four brothers and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 21, 1989)
