Lora Meyer, 80, Dies; Services to Be Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Lora C. Meyer, 80, Estherville, have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville.Burial for Mrs. Meyer will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, and friends may call there after 2 p.m. Friday until time of services Saturday.
Mrs. Meyers died at 3:40 a.m. today of cancer at the Holy Family Hospital.
She was born March 19, 1889, in Sac County to John and Elizabeth Luke. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Clyde, Mo., and received her schooling there.
She married Frank Meyer in September, 1910, and the couple farmed near Clyde until 1916, when they moved to a farm near Graettinger.
In 1955, they retired from the farm and moved to Estherville.
Mrs. Meyer is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Vera) Joyce, Emmetsburg; and Mrs. Clifford (Arlene) Blighton, Fenton; six grandchildren, Mrs. Eldon Johnson, Humboldt; Richard Blighton, Stanhope; Mrs. Richard Huber, Des Moines; Mrs. Dennis Geitzenauer, Fenton, and Cindy and Shelly Blighton, Fenton; five great-grandchildren, and a twin sister, Mrs. Charles Richardson, Graettinger.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959, three brothers, three sisters, and one great-grandson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 19, 1969)
