Estherville – Services for Orville Edward Joseph Kollasch, 79 will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, April 18, 1990 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Sunday. Legion of Mary will be at 4:30 p.m. and Vigil for the deceased at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1910 in Kossuth County, Iowa, the son of Charles and Edna (Fischal) Kollasch and attended country schools. On Dec. 27, 1938 he married Betty McMurray at St. Benedict. The couple lived in Wesley and Whittemore, moving to Estherville in 1944 where he owned a gas station a number of years. He later worked for Tobin Pkg Co., and P.G. Gray Produce before moving to Fort Dodge. They returned to Estherville and he worked for Wadco, retiring in 1972. He then worked at the Estherville Country Club until 1984.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include two sons: Kenneth, Ord, Neb., James, Dover, Tenn.; two daughters: Mrs. Darrel (Edna) Krusek, Spencer and Denise Hecht, Yankton, S.D.; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles, Racine, Wis. and Paul, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Sister Mary Denise Kollasch, Dubuque and Mrs. Mildred Ternes, Ledyard.
He was preceded in death by his wife March 13, 1985; one son; one granddaughter; two brothers and parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 21, 1990)
