Estherville – Funeral services for Betty Kennedy, 79, Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at St. Patrick’s Church, Estherville. Burial will be at the church cemetery. She passed away Thursday [February 17, 1978] evening at her home in Estherville.
Born Sept. 9, 1898 [1899 per SS death index] at Wallingford to Mr. and Mrs. James P. Kennedy, she received most of her education in the Wallingford schools. She graduated from high school at Excelsior Springs, Mo., and attended college in Arizona.
After graduation from college she worked for the War and Navy Departments in Washington, D.C., during World War I. She later moved to California and worked as a registered nurse in the Los Angeles area. When she retired she moved to Estherville.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Her survivors include one sister, Mrs. G.M. (Kathryn) Donovan, Estherville, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were he parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime on Sunday and until the time of services Monday. The rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 17, 1978)
