Estherville – Services for Adrian Chester Joy, 65, Estherville, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville.Mr. Joy died Saturday [May 5, 1979] morning at his home.
A parish Rosary will be said at 7:30 o’clock and a Knights of Columbus Rosaray will be said at 8 o’clock tonight at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services Tuesday.
Mr. Joy was born June 28, 1913, at Lemmon, S.D., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Joy. He received his education in Salix and Sioux City schools, graduating from East High School, Sioux City. He was married to Josephine Moneke at Lake Andes, S.D., on Oct. 17, 1938.
The couple lived in Sioux City and Park Rapids, Minn., until purchasing the Western Auto store in Estherville on April 1, 1955. He retired in 1977 due to his health.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Joy is survived by his wife, Josephine, Estherville; three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Sharon) Andeits, Estherville, Mrs. Dave (LeeAnn) Obrzut, St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Jo Albert, Tustin, Calif.; one son, Gary Joy, Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Joy, Artesia, N.M., and Irvin Joy, Sioux City; and one sister, Mrs. Helen BeVer, Sioux City.
