Estherville – Dr. Leonard F. Hoffman, 71, Estherville, died early Sunday [January 6, 1980] at his home.

Services for Mr. Hoffman will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday until time of services.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Hoffman, he was born Dec. 12, 1908, at Merrill. He received his education in Merrill and LeMars schools and graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, with a degree in veterinary medicine. He was married to Rita Braun on Aug. 20, 1935, at LeMars.

Dr. Hoffman practiced in Merrill and Dunnell, Minn., until moving to Estherville in 1935. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, Estherville; two sons, Tim Hoffman, Basalt, Colo., and Reggie Hoffman, Algona; two daughters, Jacque Lange, Ames, and LeNora Sullivan, Estherville; 15 grandchildren; and two brothers, Ambrose Hoffman, Galena, Ill., and Joseph Hoffman, LeMars.

Dr. Hoffman was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 7, 1980)
