Estherville – Services for Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Houseman, 57, Estherville, were held Monday morning in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Father Albert O. Grendler officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died Friday [April 30, 1982] morning in Holy Family Hospital.Helen F. Brandenburg, was born June 4, 1924 at LuVerne, Minn., the daughter of James and Anna (Meyer) Brandenburg. She attended the LuVerne schools and moved to the Armstrong area in 1938 and graduated from Armstrong High School. On Dec. 31, 1941 she was united in marriage to Loyd (Bunny) Houseman at Armstrong. After their marriage they lived in Rhode Island until moving to Estherville in 1945 and have made their home here since.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and a long time member and past officer of the Estherville Women’s Bowling Association.
Mrs. Houseman is survived by her husband, Loyd; three daughters: Mrs. Larry (Barbara) Kelly, West Chester, Penn., Mrs. Dan (Susie) Holliman, Hamburg, Iowa and Mrs. Rick (Rhonda) Elkin, Lakeland, Fla.; three sons: Dennis, Rick and Bob Houseman all of Estherville; 11 grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Anna Brandenburg, Armstrong; two brothers: Jim Brandenburg, Armstrong and Clem Brandenburg, Swea City; one sister, Dorothy Jones, Brighton, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Fabian. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 3, 1982)
