Estherville – Services for Alvina Gertrude Goecke, 85, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Monday, May 21, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Friday. Legion of Mary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and a vigil for the deceased at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She was born February 21, 1905 at Carroll, the daughter of Henry and Sophia (Walz) Goecke and attended Estherville schools. She lived on the family farm west of Estherville her entire life and remained single. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include one brother, Vernon Goecke, Estherville; two sisters, Agnes Goecke, Spencer and Mrs. Martha McDonald, Scranton; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 23, 1990)
