Estherville – Funeral services for Rose Gillespie, 100, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Jerry Cosgrove officiating. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville. She died Friday, Aug. 20 at Rosewood Manor in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 21, 1999)

Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Estherville. She died Friday, Aug. 20 at Rosewood Manor in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on July 9, 1899, at Strawberry Point, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Schacherer) Anton. She received her education in Strawberry Point. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at the Cummings Rexall and later Hoye Rexall for 20 years.

On Oct. 20, 1951, she married Milo E. Gillespie at Strawberry Point, She then worked at the Estherville Creamery and later the Harker & Bauman’s Lumber Yard. Mr. Gillespie died Feb. 18, 1997. Rose has been a resident of Rosewood Manor Care Center since 1997.

She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Legion of Mary, Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by a sister, Margaret Anton of Strawberry Point and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 23, 1999)
