Estherville – Alvin Herman Garrelts, 64, Estherville, died Tuesday morning at his home.

Services for Mr. Garrelts will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.

Mr. Garrelts was born March 10, 1914, at Ayrshire, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Garrelts. He received his education in the Graettinger schools and was married Jan. 6, 1934, to Myrtle Boecker at Graettinger. They farmed in the Graettinger area for many years and operated People’s Annex and Lounge in Estherville since 1964. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, Estherville; two sons, Thomas Garrelts, Greeley, Colo.; and Eldon Garrelts, Ankeny; one daughter, Mrs. Rene (Judy Ann) McMahon, Buffalo Center; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Catherine Garrelts, Estherville; and one brother, Henry Garrelts, Graettinger.
