J. A. Irwin Dies Suddenly at His Home Wednesday
After a lingering illness J. A. Irwin died at his home on North Sixth Street last Wednesday morning. Mr. Irwin has been a resident of this city for over 40 years. He was well and favorably known in the county as a prosperous farmer while he was farming for 36 years. He retired and moved to this city some years ago.John Albert Irwin was born in Vinton on February 18, 1876. He has been a life long resident of Iowa. He was united in marriage to Ella West of a pioneer family December 27, 1899. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the K. of P. lodge.
He is survived by his widow, three sons, R. L. Irwin of California, Floyd Irwin of Whittier, California, and Clair of Ashland, Oregon, and one daughter, Mrs. LaVon Sargent of St. Paul. Mrs. Roy Burt is a sister of the deceased.
The funeral will probably be on Saturday awaiting word from the sons in California. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 20, 1947)
