Estherville – Memorial services for C. Armella O’Brien, 91, of Estherville will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 1998, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. She died on Saturday, May 30, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz.

There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service.

She was born on July 12, 1906, at Armstrong, the daughter of John and Helena (Rolling) Sturm Sr. She received her education in the Armstrong schools and graduated from Armstrong High School. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

On November 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to James Howard O’Brien at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong. She taught third grade at Lake Park for several years and was employed in Armstrong at a bank. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the Armstrong and Estherville area before retiring and moving into Estherville. Mr. O’Brien died December 1, 1971. She later lived in Cedar Rapids for several years and in Scottsdale with her daughter.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Jack (Pat) Wilson of Scottsdale; Mrs. Gary (Mary) Ernst of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. W.A. (Elizabeth) Dresck of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, her parents, two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June, 1998)
