Estherville – Services for Alvie R. Wicks, 84, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He did Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1994 at McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls, S.D.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Parish vigil service will be 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1909 at Spirit Lake, the son of Albert and Ede (Peterson) Wicks and attended school in Dolliver. He married Marian Dukes on June 9, 1962 at Estherville. He lived in Dolliver and Estherville and was employed by Martin Oil Co. in Mankato, Minn. for 30 years as a maintenance person and drove a truck delivering gas for Sun Oil. He retired in 1974. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbis and was a social member of VFW Post 3388.
Survivors include his wife Marian of Estherville; nieces Janice Wade, Waterloo and Alice Marquardt, Primghar; nephews, Wayne Wicks, Dolliver and Royce Miller, Moline, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September, 1994)
