Bigelow, Minn. – Funeral services for Celia Alvarez, 72, of Bigelow, Minn. and formerly of Laredo, Texas, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 13 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Sunday, September 10 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, September 13 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on July 12, 1923 in Saltillo, Mexico, the daughter of Bruno and Lebarada (Lopez) Alvarez and received her education in Mexico. She was united in marriage to Rito Rodriguez in Mexico. She lived most of her life in Laredo, Texas, but recently moved to Bigelow, Minn. to be with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie Kropf of Bigelow; one son, Fransico Alvarez Rodriguez of Laredo; 12 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, four brothers and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 13, 1995)
