Estherville – Services for Milo Gillespie, 77, of Estherville will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Tom Nash presiding. Interment will be made in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post No. 388 and American Legion Post No. 91 both of Estherville. He died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997 at Holy Family Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish vigil Service at 7 p.m. both on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

He was born July 24, 1919 at Comfrey, Minn. the son of John (Jack) and Margaret (Glackin) Gillespie. He attended rural schools near Windom, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during WWII. On Oct. 20, 1951 he married Rose Anton at Strawberry Point. He was employed by Cement Products Co. and Sioux Valley Fish Line in Estherville and later at John Morrell’s for 22 years. He retired in 1975 due to poor health.

Survivors include his wife Rose of Estherville; sister, Eleanor Stewart of Watertown, Minn., sister-in-law Minnie Gillespie, Windom, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 19, 1997)
