J. Howard O’Brien Rites Saturday
James Howard O’Brien, 63, Estherville, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, at St. Mary’s Hospital at Rochester, Minn.He was born April 7, 1908, at Orleans, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. William O’Brien and received his education in the Emmet Consolidated school and Estherville JC.
On Nov. 28, 1939, he was married to C. Armella Sturm at St. Mary’s Church at Armstrong. They farmed in the Armstrong and Estherville areas. They retired and moved to Estherville.
He was a Farm Bureau member and treasurer of Emmet Consolidated school. H was Democratic committeeman and a former Knights of Columbus member and a member of the building board of St. Patrick’s Church.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Gary (Sheila) Sundell, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. John (Patricia) Sebald, Mankato, Minn.; and Mrs. Gary (Mary) Ernst, Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Paul and Mitchell Sundell and Stephanie and Laura Sebald and David Ernst; and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Heywood, Estherville; Mrs. Don (Florence) Nutting, Cedar Falls; and Mrs. Arthur (Agnes) Hageman, Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lloyd.
Concelebrated Mass will be offered by Msgr. James H. Duhigg and Father Laurence Burns at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church in Estherville.
Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Fuhrman Funeral Home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 3, 1971)
