Estherville – Carl C. Higgins, 65, Estherville, died Wednesday, April 27, 1977, as the result of a coronary while working at the Henry Baedke home near Terril.

Services for Mr. Higgins will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.

Born Nov. 3, 1911, at Collins, Mo., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Higgins. He came to the Graettinger and Estherville area in 1917 and received his education in rural schools near Graettinger.

On Aug. 30, 1930, he was married to Bonnie Stepleton at Jackson, Minn. He farmed in the Estherville area.

Mr. Higgins is survived by his wife, Bonnie, Estherville; seven sons, Pete Higgins, Estherville, Dale Higgins, Estherville, Kenny Higgins, Spirit Lake, Mike Higgins, Ft. Lewis, Wash., Bill Higgins, Estherville, Jerry Higgins, Jackson, Minn., and Glenn Higgins, Wahpeton, N.D.; one step son, Phillip Cook, Belmond; seven daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Betty) Janssen, Dunnell, Minn., Mrs. Russell (Jean) Planting, Estherville, Mrs. Lois Michelson, Spirit Lake, Mrs. Ted (Mary) Thelen, Spirit Lake, Mrs. Mike (Carla) Long, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Vern (Letica) Scott, Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Ronald (Shelley) Mitchell, Estherville; 34 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughter, one son, his parent and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 28, 1977)
