Ben Archer, 71, Died of Heart Attack Dec. 26
Funeral Was Held Here Saturday
Ben Archer, 71, passed away at the home of his nephew, A.H. Mills and family in Graettinger at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, December 26.Deceased had been ill for two weeks with a heart ailment. His condition was quite serious, although he was able to be about just a few days before his death.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Methodist church. The Rev. J. Hober Miller officiated. Many old friends were in attendance at the services. The pallbearers were N.L. O’Connor, R.M. Young,Ed Herke, John McDonald, M.O. Grodland and E. Burg.
Mr. Archer was 71 years of age last August. He was a resident of Graettinger for many years, later locating in Emmet county. He was a – and quietly attended to his own business affairs and made no enemies. All who knew him spoke kindly of him.
[fold in the paper] are Mrs. Vera Heidecker, of Estherville; Mrs. Lila Hartnett and Miss Fern Archer, of Chicago; Mrs. Ernest Solmonson, of Spencer; Mrs. Wayne Solmonson and Mrs. Otto Swalve, of Estherville. The sons are Floyd of Estherville; Fay, of Evanston; and Milton, aged 13, of Estherville. There are several grandchildren.
Mrs. R.J. Larson, of Graettinger, and Mrs. John T. Simon, of the Osgood vicinity, are nieces of Mr. Archer. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, January 2, 1947)
