James Harris Services Saturday in Estherville
Estherville – James H. Harris, 78, Estherville, passed away Wednesday [November 20, 1974] morning at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Union Baptist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Val Hauck officiating and burial in the East Side Cemetery. Masonic services will be held 8 p.m. Friday at the Henry Funeral Home.

He was born July 4, 1896 in Covington, Iowa, to Irvin and Alice Usher Harris. He moved to Emmet County with his parents in 1906 and was educated in the Emmet County schools.

Mr. Harris was married to Esther Flindt on March 8, 1916 in Estherville. He farmed in the area for a number of years then became the owner and operator of People’s Barbershop until his retirement in 1961.

He was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Commandary, White Shrine and past worshipful master of the Lodge.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Estherville, one daughter, Mrs. John (Beverly) McCullum, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harley, Nivis, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 21, 1974)
