Edgar Harris
Edgar Harris was born in Newton, Abbot, Devonshire, England on October 28, 1863. He died at his home near Dunnell on October 14, 1931, at 1:30 a.m.He lived in England until he was 21 years of age when he emigrated to America. On May 30, 1895 at Storm Lake, he was united in marriage to Maggie Melvina Mason. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, eight children, one brother, William Harris, of England; five daughters, Mrs. R.E. Wood of Franklin, Minn., Mrs. S.G. Norris of Chester, Iowa; Mrs. Geo. Petersen of Hollandale, Minn.; Mrs. J.D. Sidles of Huntington; Mrs. Rex Smith of Dolliver; three sons, Frank of Huntington, Louie of Dunnell and Roy at home and eighteen grandchildren. Mr. Harris belonged to the Christian Episcopal Church while in England. When he came to America he joined the Episcopal Church to which he has belonged since.
The early part of his married life was spent on a farm in the Emmetsburg vicinity. In 1916 he moved to a farm near Estherville, where he lived until his death.
The funeral services were held from the Huntington Church Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Carver preaching the funeral sermon and burial was made in the East Side Cemetery at Estherville. Fred J. Sternborg had charge of the funeral. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 21, 1931)
