Mrs. Wilbur Holroyd Dies; Rites Monday
Had Been Seriously Ill Since February
Mrs. Wilbur Holroyd, 57, died at 3:40 this morning in Park View clinic after a long illness. She had been bedfast since last February and entered the clinic three weeks ago.Mrs. Holroyd, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Siglier [Sigler], was born Feb. 16, 1890, at Dedham, Iowa, where she spent her girlhood. On Dec. 17, 1913, she became the bride of Wilbur Holroyd and went with him to Canada where they resided a year and then returned to Carroll county. They moved to Emmet county in 1917 and farmed near High Lake until 13 years ago when they came to Estherville.
Mrs. Holroyd was a member of the Methodist church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service and of the Rebecca lodge.
Surviving are her husband, a son, Pfc. Dale Holroyd, now on leave from duty in Korea where he was stationed until called home by the illness of his mother; two daughters, Dorothy and Erma, at home, and her father, H.M. Siglier, who lives at the Holroyd residence. She was preceded in death by her son, Pfc. Earl Holroyd, who was killed in action while fighting in Belgium and by her mother, Mrs. Siglier, who died last Aug. 31.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 in the Holroyd home at 502 South Eighth street and at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church, Rev. C.J. Semans officiating. Burial will be in East Side cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 2, 1947)
Mrs. W. Holroyd Dies at Hospital on Saturday
Mrs. Wilbur Holroyd passed away at the Park View Clinic last Saturday morning. She had been in poor health for a long time and bedfast since early spring. She had been under the doctor’s care at the Clinic for three weeks.Mrs. Holroyd was born February 16, 1890 in Dedham where she spent her girlhood and received her education. She was united in marriage to Mr. Holroyd on December 17, 1913. After their marriage they lived in Canada for a year and moved back to Carroll County. In 1917 they moved to Emmet County and farmed in High Lake Township. They have made Estherville their home for the past 13 years.
She is survived by her husband, one son, Pfc. Dale Holroyd and two daughters, Dorothy and Erma. Her son, Pfc. Earl, was killed in action in Belgium.
The funeral services were held on Monday at 1:30 from the Holroyd home and at 2 from the Methodist Church, the Rev. C.J. Semans officiating. Interment was in the East Side cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 7, 1947)
