Alfred Gordon Henderson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Henderson, was born November 14, 1890 at Coal City, Illinois and departed this life on Wednesday, May 9, 1973 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 25 days. He received his education in the Coal City and Winona, Illinois schools. He worked in the coal mines in that area and came to Emmet County, Iowa in 1913.

On May 20, 1915 he was united in marriage to Annie Esther Chambers at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Chambers, in Estherville, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Maple Hill area and later he worked in construction for Fagre construction company before retiring.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife, Annie; two sons, Donald of Independence, Iowa and Richard of Sun City, Arizona; twelve grandchidren and seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Henderson of Peoria, Illionis and John Henderson of Oglesby, Illionis. He has been preceded in death by one son, Alan, his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
