Charles Haas’ Services Wednesday in Estherville
Charles Albert Haas, 79, Estherville, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday [November 11, 1973] in Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Reese-Henry Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. Val Hauck officiating. Burial will be made in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at Reese-Henry after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Haas was born March 22, 1894 near Oxford, Iowa, to John and Sophie Haas. He was educated in rural schools. He came to rural Elmore, Minn., as a young boy. In 1917, he was married to Jessie M. Sanders at Elmore. She died in 1937.

He was married in 1939 to Edna Billings in Sioux Falls and she died in 1969.

Mr. Haas farmed in Kossuth County until 1940, then moved to the Estherville area where he has lived since. He is survived by two sons, Elmer Haas of Lakota and Marvin Haas of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Meril (Edna) Billings, Estherville, and Mrs. William (Gladys) Helmich, Estherville; also step-children, Meril Billings and Mrs. Helen Prentice, Estherville, and Mrs. Wayne Davidson, Ringsted; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Haas of Elmore; and one sister, Mrs. Henry Goeke, Elmore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives and one son and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 12, 1973)
