Rites Friday for former resident
Mrs. George (Laura) Haar, 75, Ruthven, former Estherville resident, died at the Emmetsburg hospital at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday [May 5, 1971].

Survivors include two sons, Francis, Ruthven; and Russell, Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Ruby) Schurg, Ruthven; and Mrs. Fabian (Margaret) Halder, Ruthven; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew Peterson, Estherville; William Peterson, Alpha, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Eliasen, Greene.

Services will be Friday at 1:30 at the United Methodist Church at Ruthven. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

Lightle-Hays Funeral Home, Ruthven, will be in charge of the arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 5, 1971)

Funeral Here for Mrs. Haar
Funeral for Laura Haar, 75, Ruthven, was at 1:30 p.m. Friday from the United Methodist Church in Ruthven.

The Rev. Fred Samek and the Rev. Richard Haar officiated. Burial was at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

Mrs. Haar died Wednesday at Palo Alto County Hospital.

She was born June 15, 1895, to Paul and Johanna Peterson in Grundy County.

On Dec. 9, 1914, she was married to George Haar at Estherville. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Haar was a member of WSCS of Ruthven and was a 50-year member of the Brown Creek Club of Estherville.

Survivors include two sons, Francis Haar of Ruthven and Russell Haar of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Schurg and Mrs. Margaret Halder, both of Ruthven; two brothers, Andrew Peterson of Estherville and William Peterson of Alpha, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Nettie Eliason of Green, Ia.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
