Funeral services for Hazel K. Griffis, 98, of Estherville will be held at 11am on Friday, Oct 13, 2000 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Friday, Oct 6, 2000 at Rosewood Manor in Estherville.
Visitation will be held at 9am on Friday until time of services at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel.
She was born on May 16, 1902 in Adel, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Wilcox) Keeler. She moved to Estherville with her parents when she was a young girl. She received her education in the Estherville High School.
On July 4, 1921 she was united in marriage to E. Gordon Griffis in Emmetsburg. The couple lived their married life in Estherville. She was a resident at the Gardston Apartments and later the Rosewood Manor Care Center in Estherville. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville and the Gold Star Mothers. She enjoyed collecting dolls.
She is survived by one nephew, Robert Keeler and his wife, Janice of Richardson, Texas; one niece, Mary Young and her husband, Dennis of Grand Junction, Colo; four great nephews; one great nephew; on great niece and special friend, Lois Jensen and her husband, Walt of Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA)
