Frank Ellis, 67, Dies Sunday
Came to Estherville as a Young Man
Francis LeRoy Ellis, 67, for 50 years a resident of Estherville passed away Sunday [December 3, 1933] at 3:30 a.m. at the home of his son Fred. Mr. Ellis had been in failing health for a number of years and was unable to continue at his trade as a mason. He made his home with his son and with his daughter Mrs. Oley Anderson in recent years. Mr. Ellis’ third child, Mrs. Myrl Brisbin also lives in Estherville.

Mr. Ellis was born April 10, 1866 at Blue Earth, Minn., coming to Estherville as a young man 50 years ago. He was first employed on the old B.C.R. & N. railway, later taking up the trade of a mason.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at one thirty from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel and at two o’clock from the Christian church, Rev. M.A. Lowe was in charge. Pall bearers were Loren White, Frank Sullivan, Chas. Coon, Archie Evans, Fred Lyman and J.J. Buckley.

Known in Estherville and community for his genial and kindly disposition Mr. Ellis will be greatly missed by his children and by a wide circle of friends made during his long residence here. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 5, 1933)

Frank Ellis Died at His Home Sunday
Frank Ellis died Sunday at his home in the southwest part of the city. Mr. Ellis has been ill for sometime past and has been gradually losing his strength for two years.

He is a pioneer of this county and with his brother, Ed, was a mason and plasterer in the early day.

Mr. Ellis was as youth a great hunter and angler. He grew up in this district as a wilderness and enjoyed everything that pertained to the out-of-doors.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Mahlum & Anderson funeral parlors, the Rev. M.A. Lowe officiating. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery.

Mr. Ellis leaves a son and two daughters to mourn his death. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 6, 1933)
