Fred Ellis Succumbs to Heart Attack
Fred Ellis, 57, Estherville mason, died this morning at 1:20 at a Chippewa Falls, Wis., hospital of heart attack. He was at Chippewa Falls on a vacation visiting relatives when he was stricken. He had not been ill previously.

A son, Francis Ellis, was called to Chippewa Falls yesterday after receiving word that his father had taken a turn for the worse. Francis left about 10 p.m. and was still en route to Chippewa Falls when his father died.

Ellis was born Sept. 4, 1892, in Estherville and received his education here. He was married to Ruth Curtis of Ladysmith, Wis., and to the couple was born three children, Francis of Estherville, Duane at home, and Mrs. Charles Piggott of San Diego.

Survivors include his wife and children, two sisters, Mrs. Oley Anderson and Mrs. M.E. Brisbane of Estherville, and four grandchildren.

He will be returned to Estherville for services, arrangements for which are pending. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 31, 1950)

Fred Ellis Rites Tuesday
Services for Fred Ellis will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Estherville Christian church with the Rev. Clyde Leeds officiating. Burial will be at Eastside cemetery. Full military rites will be performed for the deceased with the local legion post officiating. Friends who wish to pay their last respects may call at the Christian church while the remains are lying in state starting two hours before services.
