Estherville – Christina [Christena]R. Ellis, 84, Estherville, died at her home in Estherville on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellis will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Presbyterian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Harvey G. Throop officiating. Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery here.

Mrs. Ellis was born July 19, 1891, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Schmidt, in Bruning county [Bruning is in Thayer County, NE], Nebraska.

She moved to Iowa with her family as a child and received her education in schools in Calhoun and Emmet counties. She married Mack M. Ellis in Estherville on Dec. 24, 1914.

The couple farmed in Emmet and Dickinson counties until Mr. Ellis’ death in 1967. She was a member of the Estherville Presbyterian Church and Ever-Willing Workers Club.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by two sons, Melvin Ellis of Estherville and Evert Ellis of Eleva,Wis.; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Evelyn) Kirchner of Gruver; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; one brother, John Schmidt of Wilmar, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Lena Wiltse, Ceylon, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 20, 1975)
