Mervin Helmer Eike, 71, of Estherville died Wednesday afternoon, June 20, 1973, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester from a heart attack.

Mr. Eike was born March 15, 1902, at Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Eike. He received his education in Estherville schools. He was married to Ethel N. Dahl on Nov. 27, 1930, at Spirit Lake.

He had lived in Estherville all his life and was employed by the Rock Island Railroad for 11 years, employed as a painter by S.B. Grinde for 22 years. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; one daughter, Mr. Ona Bland; two grandsons, Dick and Steve; and one brother, Russell Eike, all of Estherville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Burial will be in East Side Cemetery with graveside services at 3 p.m. Friday.

Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements.
