Elisabeth Anne Stevens, the daughter of Robert W. and Maude Drum Stevens, was born August 27, 1900 at Marshalltown, Iowa and departed this life at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, Iowa, on Sunday, February 8, 1981 at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

She received her education in the Marshalltown schools, graduating from the Marshalltown High School and from Cornell College. She was engaged in Child Welfare work in St. Joseph, Missouri and in Chicago and taught school in several Iowa communities.

On June 8, 1933 [1931] she was united in marriage to Hubert G. Dougherty at Albion, Iowa. The couple moved to Estherville June 1, 1943 where Mr. Dougherty served as Social Welfare Director until his retirement on September 1, 1964. He died on July 16, 1969.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Woman’s Organizations, Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary, P.E.O., Easter Star, and was President of the Library Board in Allerton, Iowa.

Mrs. Dougherty is survived by two sisters, Roberta J. Stevens of Santa Monica, California and Mrs. Katherine S. Thompson of Arcadia, California. She has been preceded in death by her husband and parents. (Memorial Card, Fuhrman Funeral Home)
