Local Man Dies
Funeral services are pending at the Fuhrman Funeral Home for Hubert Dougherty, 70, Estherville, who died this morning at the Balmer Nursing Home. Dougherty, who had been in failing health for some time, was director of Emmet County Welfare for 21 years. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 1969)

Final Services to Be Friday for Hubert Dougherty
Funeral services for Hubert Dougherty, 70, Estherville, who died Wednesday morning at the Balmer Nursing Home, will be held at 10:30 Friday morning at the Fuhrman Funeral Home.

There will be a Masonic service for Dougherty tonight at 8 o’clock at the Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be at East Side Cemetery. A military graveside service will be conducted.
Dougherty was born to William and Mary Dougherty, Feb. 27, 1899, in Allerton, Iowa. He served in the navy during World War I.

Dougherty married Elizabeth Stevens of Albian on June 8, 1931. He came to Emmet County March 1, 1943, and served as social welfare director until his retirement Sept. 1, 1964.

He is survived by his wife, a half sister, Fern Kenline, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and a half brother, Harold Dougherty, Middle Town, Ohio. (Estherville, Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 17, 1969)
