Estherville – Funeral service for Herbert Glen Dean, 75, Spirit Lake, were held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Harvey Throop officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery. [He died Oct. 17.]
Mr. Dean was born Aug. 23, 1900 to Walter and Addie Wiseman Dean in Crawford County. As a child he moved with his parents to Sac County where he attended school before moving to Emmet and Dickinson Counties. On Aug. 23, 1923 he was married to Irene Book in Emmet County. They farmed for 45 years in Dickinson County and moved into Spirit Lake when he retired. He had served as a 4H club leader, school board director, board member of the Superior Co-Op Elevator and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Estherville.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, Spirit Lake; one son, Glenn, Spirit Lake; three grandchildren; four brothers, Wiley, Laurens; Milan, Estherville; Fred and Robert of Superior; and one sister, Mrs. Karl Klempe, Superior; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
