An Old Settler Dead
L.M. Culver, an old time resident of this city, died at his home in Syracuse, New York, on Dec. 24th. Mr. Culver was the father of Mrs. F.H. Rhodes of this city. He left here some twenty-four years ago, and since that time lived in New York. While in this city he was agent for the Milwaukee railway during the time that road ran trains from Emmetsburg. Most of the younger generation of twenty-four years ago will remember him from his large collection of Indian and other relics. He had collected the best one in the northwest at the time he lived here. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 30, 1914)

Leroy Culver is in Estherville for a brief visit at the home of his sister, Mrs. F.H. Rhodes. He is now located at Montrose, Colo. He is returning from Delphi Falls, N.Y., where he was called by the death of his father, L.M. Culver. Thirty-one years ago his father was agent for the Milwaukee Railway Company at this place. When the company abandoned its line into Estherville and the track was torn up, he removed to Wisconsin. Later he removed to New York, where he died on December 24th. Leroy Culver, who is now here, resided in Cedar Rapids after leaving Estherville until his health failed and he was compelled to go to Colorado. Until recently he has been engaged in the mercantile business. He has been away from here so long that he can hardly realize that it is the same town. He expects to remain here a couple of days. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, January 27, 1915)
