Mrs. J.A. Cole Is Called to Final Reward
Had Resided in This Community 35 Years – Funeral Monday
Mrs. Caroline L. Cole, 75, died Saturday afternoon, June 23 at the home of her grandson Marian Swanson near Dunnell of apoplexy. Mrs. Cole who had resided in Estherville for 32 years had gone to her grandson’s home which was her old home place about three weeks ago.Mrs. Cole was born in Cassville, Wis., but came west with her parents in a covered wagon when she was six years old. The family settled near Dunnell where she was married in1870 to James A. Cole. Mr. and Mrs. Cole homesteaded a place five miles west of Sherburn, Minn. This was their home until moving to this community. For 15 years they lived in the south part of town. Since her husband’s death four years ago Mrs. Cole has lived with her only daughter, Mrs. Walter Swanson. There is also surviving her grandson, one granddaughter, Mrs. Jas. Simpson, two nieces, Mrs. Stella Doll of Minneapolis and Mrs. Violet Swift of Dunnell and one nephew, Fadar Anderson of Dunnell.
Funeral services were held at two thirty Monday afternoon in Estherville at the Christian church, following a short prayer service at the Sternborg funeral chapel. Rev. M.A. Lowe of the Christian church was in charge. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 26, 1934)

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Cole, who died Saturday, were held Monday [June 25, 1934] at the Christian church, with Rev. M.A. Lowe in charge. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Walter Swanson, a grandson, Marland Swanson; a granddaughter, Mrs. Jim Simpson, and two nieces. Her husband preceded her in death in 1931.
Mrs. Cole was born July 9, 1858, in Cassville, Wis. She came with her parents [John and Bertha Anderson Ganner] when she was six years old in a covered wagon to Dunnell. She was united in marriage in 1876 to James Cole. They lived near Sherburn until 32 years ago when they moved to Estherville. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 27, 1934)
