Ex-Local Resident Dies
Mrs. Donald Cockburn, 50, former Estherville resident, died at 11 a.m. yesterday at Joliet, Ill. She had been ill with cancer for about five years. Mrs. Cockburn is a sister-in-law of Mrs. Clark Lingenfelter of Estherville and an aunt of Mrs. Violet Starkey of Estherville. Mr. and Mrs. Cockburn have been living in Joliet since 1945, when they left Estherville. While in this area, Mr. Cockburn worked in a gasoline station, farmed and operated a restaurant at Wallingford. Surviving her death are her husband and four sisters, all in Joliet. A brother, Guy Tremper of California, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sternborg funeral home here, the Rev. R.A. Larson of the Union Baptist church officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 19, 1954)
