Cockburn Funeral to Be Saturday
Funeral services for Donald Cockburn, 62, brother of Mrs. Amy Ella Lingenfelter, who died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday [June 12, 1957] in a Joliet, Ill., hospital will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sternborg Funeral Home.

Mr. Cockburn, a longtime resident of this area, was born Feb. 20, 1895 [per cemetery records 1896] in Estherville. The son of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Cockburn, he was reared on a farm northwest of Estherville.

United in marriage to the former Ethel Tremper, who died in 1954, Mr. and Mrs. Cockburn farmed for some time in this area, then removed to Joliet where Mr. Cockburn worked in a factory. They later operated a restaurant in Wallingford for three years.

Survivors include his widow, Ruth Cockburn, to whom he was married two years ago; two brothers, Keith Cockburn of Terril and Harry Cockburn of Detroit Lake, Minn., and another sister, Mrs. George Lingenfelter of Olivia, Minn. Also surviving is a stepson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

The Rev. Eugene Olson will officiate at the services on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Ed Timmins, L.W. Stark, Milford Houge, Maurice Oleson, Irving Martens and Henry DeWall.

Friends may call at Sternborg’s Saturday until time of services. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 13, 1957)
