Dr. Clausen, Estherville Native, Dies
Dr. Harry John Clausen, 67, who grew up here, died Monday, July 17, 1972, at 17th Suburban Hospital, Bethesda Hospital in Maryland.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Reese-Henry Chapel with the Rev. Richard Headen officiating. Burial will be made in East Side Cemetery.

Dr. Clausen was born Oct. 18, 1904, in Clinton County to Clause and Marie Clausen. He graduated in the class of 1922 and earned his doctorate at the University of Iowa Medical School He also had postgraduate study at New York.

On July 3, 1928, he was married to Irene Kouth in Winona, Minn. During his career he taught medicine in several medical institutions and for the past 15 years has been executive secretary of the Breast Cancer Segment in Bethesda Medical School He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Irene, at 8383 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, Md., 20910; one son, Philip J. Clausen, Minneapolis; three grandchildren; one sister, Alma Shuttleworth, Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Louis Obye will sing “Beyond the Sunset” at the services, with accompaniment by Lillian Mauck. Pallbearers will be Arnold Clausen, Carl Clausen, Dr. Richard Bose, Herman Moltzen, Floyd Givens and Richard Tatman.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 19, 1972)
