N.C. Christensen Dies; Funeral Held Thursday
N.C. Christensen, 71, of Estherville, died Monday [February 5, 1945] night at 10:30 at his home where he had been confined to his bed for the past six weeks. Mr. Christensen had been in ill health for the past two years.Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 from the Christensen home and at 2 p.m. from the Estherville Lutheran church. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
Mr. Christensen was born in Denmark, Aug. 19, 1873, and came to the United States when he was 17 years old. He first lived at Humboldt and came to Estherville in 1920. For a number of years he was a farmer near Estherville and retired several years ago. Mrs. Christensen [Maren Mikkelson] died two and a half years ago. Mr. Christensen is a member of the Estherville Lutheran church.
Surviving are three sons, Jens, Andrew and Einer, and two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Shaw of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Birger Handeland of Estherville; eight grandchildren; a brother, Jens C. Christensen of Huntington, two half-brothers, Andrew and Nels both of Humboldt, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Theodore Jensen and Mrs. P.O. Nilsen, both living at Humboldt.
