Christensen Rites Set For Tuesday
Andrew Chris Christensen, 70, Estherville, died at 7:05 a.m. Nov. 26, 1972, at Holy Family Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz and the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Interment will be made in East Side Cemetery.
Lester Handeland will be soloist, accompanied by Mrs. A. B. Rosenberger, organist. Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Natterstad, Lloyd Olson, Leonard Munson, Howard Hatland, Arthur Schultz and Walter Frick.
Mr. Christensen was born March 29, 1902, on a farm in Humboldt County to Mr. and Mrs. Nels Christensen. He was educated in Humboldt County schools and married Dec. 8, 1954, in Estherville to Elnora Johnson. After her death he married Mary Eloise Holl in Estherville on Sept. 20, 1969.
He had come to Emmet County with his parents in 1920 and farmed near Estherville until his retirement in 1970. Mr. Christensen was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, Estherville; four step-daughters, Mrs. C. Duane (Marilyn) Houge, Okoboji, Mrs. Earl (Janet) Moote, Chicago, Mrs. Norman (Joyce) Johnson, Maple Hill, and Mrs. Gerald (Carol) Shaw, Mobile, Ala.; three stepsons, David Holl, Estherville, Gerald Holl, Atlanta, Ga., and Alan Holl, Tacoma, Wash.; 10 step-grandchildren; two brothers, Einer and Jens of Estherville; and two sisters, Mrs. Birger Handeland, Estherville, and Mrs. Hannah Shaw, Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Elnora.
