Carey Rites to be Held on Thursday
Funeral services will be held for Alexander (Doc) Carey, 84, at the Sternborg-Reese Chapel, Thursday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Lester Strubhar officiating. The body will lie in state from 6:00 this evening until time of service. The casket will not be open after the service.

Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.

Mr. Carey died Sept. 3 at 2:10 p.m. at the Holy Family Hospital. He had been ill six weeks.

He was born Aug. 2, 1876, at Shelbina, Mo. His parents were Edmond and Sarah [Clutter] Carey. He received his education in the Missouri schools. Mr. Carey moved to Emmet County in 1894. He was married to Lottie Osborn in 1899. They farmed around Estherville most of their life and he retired in 1945.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1943, his parents and one daughter.

Survivors include five sons, Arnold, rural Estherville; Leslie, Estherville; Wilson, Hawesville, Kent; Edmond, Knoxville; Clarence, Fort Dix, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie (May) Campbell, Emmetsburg; Mrs. Paul (Alice) Salyers, Boone; one brother, Jasper, Estherville; and three half brothers, John Campbell of Estherville, Jim Campbell of Fairmont and Jess Campbell of Emmetsburg.
